The SacramentsEssentials

A woman was "ordained" a bishop and then ordained others. Is this valid?

The Sacraments

The short answer

No. The Church cannot validly ordain women. John Paul II declared that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women, a judgment to be held definitively by all the faithful.

It is not a valid ordination, because the Church cannot validly ordain women.

In Ordinatio Sacerdotalis (4), John Paul II, to remove all doubt on a matter that belongs to the Church's divine constitution, and by virtue of his ministry of confirming the brethren (cf. Luke 22:32), declared that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women, and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the faithful.
