My priest says "Receive Jesus Christ" at Communion instead of "The Body of Christ." Is that okay?
The short answer
No. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal prescribes "The Body of Christ," to which the communicant answers "Amen." The liturgy is not private property, and no one — including the priest — may change the rubrics on his own.
The prescribed words
The minister raises the host slightly, shows it to each communicant and says, "The Body of Christ"; the communicant replies, "Amen" (GIRM 117).
Not private property
No individual, including the priest, has authority to change the rubrics according to personal taste.
