Should a priest invite non-Catholics who believe in the Real Presence to receive Communion?

The Eucharist

The short answer

No. The Eucharist is offered to non-Catholic Christians only in the extraordinary circumstances of canon 844, which were not met. For mixed marriages, couples are usually advised to marry outside Mass for this reason.

The invitation was inappropriate. The Eucharist is offered to non-Catholic Christians only in certain extraordinary circumstances set out in canon 844, and those were not present here.

For this reason, a Catholic marrying a non-Catholic Christian is usually counseled to have the wedding outside of Mass, so that a large part of the congregation, including the bride or groom, is not left unable to receive Communion.
