Why weren't my prayers answered if the Memorare says no one was left unaided?

Prayer & Spirituality

The short answer

The Memorare does not oblige Mary or God to answer in exactly the way we ask. It expresses complete trust that every prayer is answered, even when the answer is not the one hoped for. Mary may have obtained for you courage and patience, or a deeper faith. Keep praying, as Jesus did.

A statement of trust

The Memorare isn't meant to oblige the Blessed Mother or God to answer in the exact way we specify. It expresses utter trust that they always answer the prayers of the faithful, even if not as hoped.

How she may have helped

Perhaps Mary obtained for you the grace to carry your burden with courage and patience, or to go deeper into your faith through prayer — which is what you did.

Keep praying

Keep praying the Memorare, remembering Jesus' own prayer: "Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done" (Luke 22:42).
